HARRY Redknapp has revealed Julio Cesar and Bobby Zamora will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the R’s crucial Barclays Premier League clash against Sunderland tomorrow (Saturday).
Both players will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness ahead of the fixture at Loftus Road, with Redknapp likely to leave it until Saturday morning before making a decision on the pair.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Redknapp said: “We’re still waiting on Cesar and Zamora.
“We’re still not sure on either of them.
“We’ll give them as much time as they need. We’ll leave it until the very last minute.”
He added: “Zamora is obvious a big threat for us and we’d love him to be fit, but Jay (Bothroyd) and Loic (Remy) both did very well last weekend.
“I’m lucky that we’ve got two really good keepers here. Cesar is back in the Brazil squad and Rob (Green) was fantastic for us when he came on last week as well.
“I also like the lad (Brian) Murphy as well - good keeper, first class attitude - and we’re lucky to have such good competition in that department.”
Last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Southampton lifted Rangers to within four points of safety and Redknapp is keen to see his side build on that victory with a priceless home win against the Mackems.
“We need back-to-back wins. I think it was World War One when we last did that!” he joked.
“If we can do that it puts us right back in the picture.”
He added: “It will be a tough game.
“Sunderland are strong up front. They’ve got two very good strikers.
“But we’re at home and we need to give our fans something to shout about.
“We’re still in there. We’ve still got a good chance.
“I’ve been optimistic all along and I still feel we’ll stay up.
“We’re ready to go. We’re ready to give everything.”
