Peter Skapetis netted a brace as QPR U18s got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Brentford at Jersey Road.
The young R’s went into the game keen to put their recent 1-0 loss at Brighton behind them, and they did so with an impressive performance and result against their local rivals.
QPR dominated the early proceedings and their superiority was rewarded on 14 minutes when Skapetis fired the R’s in front, following a great through-ball from James Daly.
Seconds later, Skapetis nearly doubled his - and QPR’s tally - but Bees keeper James Bransgrove was on hand to deny him.
Many Monthe also went close for the visitors just before half-time.
After the interval, Rangers took less than two minutes to increase their lead as Skapetis grabbed his second of the afternoon.
David Fitzpatrick picked him out, and the young Australian smashed the ball in off the underside of the crossbar.
The goal seemed to give Rangers fresh impetus and they could have had a third moments later through Connor Hubble, while Jake Downes also went close with a header.
Walter Figueira halved the deficit for Brentford on 68 minutes with a close range strike but QPR were able to hold on for victory.
