WE'VE arrived in Dubai for our warm-weather training camp.
It goes without saying that the lads are all looking forward to spending a few days together in a decent climate as the countdown to the season’s finale begins to gather pace.
I’m told the gaffer only decided on this trip at the last minute, owing mainly to the recent poor weather in London, coupled with the fact some of the pitches at Harlington are heavily waterlogged, but we’re pleased to be here and I’m a firm believer that these kind of trips can really help, both in terms of training and team bonding.
The gaffer has made a few key additions to the squad over the last few weeks and this break will hopefully allow all of the new guys to settle in and familiarise themselves with their team-mates.
We arrived at the hotel two-and-a-half hours late due to a delay leaving Heathrow, so the clock was ticking towards 5.00am by the time we eventually got our heads down for some sleep.
To say there were a few weary eyes when we made our way to training at 11.00am this morning would be an understatement, but it was a good opportunity for the lads to stretch their legs after a long trip over here.
After the delayed trip over, the gaffer and his backroom team opted for a relatively low-intensity first session.
However, it was still a good opportunity for us to get out onto the training pitches and prepare our bodies for a couple of days of very intense sessions between now and the end of the week.
It’s a case of rest and relaxation for the remainder of the day, as the lads continue to shake off yesterday’s travel and prepare for the days ahead.
