QPR to provide 'fun football experience' at carnival ...

THERE will be a new addition to the Hanwell Carnival line-up this weekend as QPR show their support for the local community like never before.

Hanwell Carnival – the oldest of its kind in the capital following its first in 1898 – is thought to be the largest traditional festival in west London, attracting some 20,000 people.

QPR in the Community Trust will be representing Rangers at the annual charity fundraiser which generates around £10,000 for good causes.

The Trust will be providing a range of fun-filled activities for all ages including small sided matches, various skills challenges, a prize draw and the chance to meet much-loved R’s mascots Jude and Spark.

Andy Evans, CEO of QPR in the Community Trust, told www.qpr.co.uk: “We were invited to be part of Hanwell Carnival by the organising committee, who have been a pleasure to work with and we hope this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with Hanwell Carnival.

“We aim to provide a fun football experience for the whole family and hopefully add to the whole experience of attending the Hanwell Carnival.”

Whilst the 2012/13 campaign was primarily one to forget for QPR on the pitch, off the field the club continues to make great strides.

In April, the R’s were given the go-ahead to progress its plans for a state-of-the-art training ground facility at the Warren Farm site, set to be ready ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The Community Sports Complex will use the extensive experience of QPR in the Community Trust to develop participation programmes and forge stronger and deeper local connections.

“We see the Hanwell Carnival as the first opportunity for QPR in the Community Trust to engage directly with the residents of Hanwell and Ealing,” Evans added.

“We know this area to traditionally be the home of many QPR fans. We hope to see many of them on the day as we look forward to next season.”

This year’s Hanwell Carnival is taking place on Saturday 15th June in Elthorne Park with QPR’s Football Zone running from 12pm to 6pm.
