EXCITED yet? Rangers forward Charlie Austin certainly is.
There are just THREE days until the new Barclays Premier League campaign kicks off against Hull City in W12.
Austin – top scorer for the R’s last term – is the cover star of Saturday’s Hoops
, the club’s official matchday programme.
The striker incidentally came within a whisker of joining the Tigers last summer.
However, Loftus Road was to be his end destination from Burnley – and now Austin can finally look forward to his first season of top-flight football to cap a remarkable rise from non-league.
“Things happen for a reason, don’t they?” Austin told Hoops
. “That (the Hull move) wasn’t meant to be. But after one more season in the Championship with QPR, luckily enough we put in the hard work and got promoted.
“It’s been quite a journey to get here – I’m just happy that I am now. Hopefully I can do well. I’m excited, of course, it’s exciting times for QPR on the whole. We had a good season last year and we’re looking to build on that going into the Premier League. Hopefully we can do well.
“The last five years have been a whirlwind, really. At the start of the five years, I didn’t think I’d be where I am now. But through hard work and determination, I’ve managed to achieve it.
“Now it’s time to show the Premier League what I’ve got.”
Saturday’s matchday programme is packed full of content for our season opener against Hull.
