TWO-GOAL hero Peter Skapetis enjoyed shining under the Loftus Road floodlights after firing QPR’s Elite Development Squad to a 2-1 win over Swansea City on Thursday night.
Marc Bircham’s men came from behind to secure maximum points as frontman Skapetis continued his recent goal glut with another impressive display in front of first-team boss Harry Redknapp watching in the stands.
Skapetis admitted victory was just rewards for the R's, who missed a penalty through Frankie Sutherland before eventually making their dominance count thanks to the Australian's quick-fire double.
“I thought we did well,” the 18-year-old told www.qpr.co.uk. “Two goals too so I’m glad I did my part for the team, that’s all you can really ask for.”
An enthusiastic crowd cheered on the R's from the South Africa Road, who were rewarded with an entertaining game of flowing football.
Few of Bircham's young guns had strode out on the R's hallowed turf before and Skapetis, for one, was delighted to mark the occasion in style.
“It’s the first time I’ve played at the stadium so I’m pleased I could do well,” he added.
“Hopefully if I keep working hard I can play again here soon.”
Skapetis led the line well in attack, flanked by Canadian midfield duo Dylan Carreiro and Mike Petrasso.
The trio have played a pivotal part in firing the Under-18s to the top of the table this term and Skapetis admits confidence amongst the camp is high.
“They are two great players,” he said. “They did well tonight and have been doing well for the Under-18s.
“We’re on a bit of a roll now so hopefully we can keep it going.”
Skapetis' brace on Thursday night came five days after netting the only goal in the Under-18s latest win on Saturday.
Victory over Ipswich - their 12th in succession - leaves Steve Gallen's men flying high at the top of the table and Skapetis is targeting a successful end to the season.
“We want to win the league, we’re on track to doing so we just need to keep winning and keep doing well," he added.
“If I’m involved with the Under-21s then it’s a bonus. Hopefully I can keep scoring, doing my bit for the team and just see what happens.”
