Striker in race against time to be fit for Saints visit

QPR boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that striker Bobby Zamora is in a race against time to be fit for tomorrow’s bottom-of-the-table clash against Southampton at Loftus Road.

Zamora could miss out with a hip problem, although Hughes has been boosted by the return to fitness of Manchester United loanee Fabio da Silva, previously out with a hamstring complaint.

Ryan Nelsen, who was unable to represent New Zealand against China on Thursday after picking up a knock in last weekend ‘s defeat at Stoke City, is also in contention.

Ji-Sung Park will definitely miss out owing to a knee injury.

Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: “Fabio’s back in the squad, he’s had a good week’s training.

“Kieron Dyer’s also available, but Bobby Zamora is struggling and Ji won’t be ready.

“Ryan’s okay, he was a little bit sore earlier in the week but he’ll be fine.”
