ALEJANDRO Faurlin played 45 minutes, as QPR Under-21’s kicked off their League Two South division season with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.
Faurlin - who made his comeback against FC Augsburg in the R’s final pre-season friendly nine days ago - started against the Addicks, in a league which allows three outfield players over the age of 21 - as well as a goalkeeper - to feature.
In a first half which the R’s just edged, the Addicks missed a 25th minute spot-kick when Joe Pigott fired against the post.
Hogan Ephraim went close with a free-kick, whilst Mo Shariff fired over when under pressure.
Despite squandering a chance from the spot in the first half, Charlton weren’t about to make the same mistake again in the second period.
With just five minutes left on the clock, Jordan Cousins was sent tumbling to ground inside the box and Cedric Evina fired home from 12 yards to leave the R’s pondering what might have been.
QPR: Murphy, Harriman, Sendles-White, Ehmer, Parmenter, Shariff, Sutherland, Ephraim (Andrade 60), Hitchcock, Doughty, Faurlin (Laurent 46).
