Samba second half substitute in 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations victory...

SAMBA Diakite was a second half substitute in Mali’s Africa Cup of Nations win against Niger on Sunday.

The Rangers midfielder came on in the 79th minute to replace Sigamary Diarra at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in South Africa.

A late goal from Mali skipper Seydou Keita handed them a 1-0 a victory over Niger and the first win of the tournament.

The former Barcelona midfielder scored with six minutes remaining with the match looking to be heading for a fourth draw of the finals.

Niger goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly dropped Fousseiny Diawara's right wing cross, allowing Keita to volley home.

The win takes Mali to the top of Group B, after Ghana and DR Congo had earlier drawn 2-2.

Mali are back in action on Thursday afternoon when they face Ghana in Port Elizabeth.
