ANDROS TOWNSEND was the star turn, as England Under-21’s eased to a 4-0 win against Austria on Monday night.
The Spurs loanee – who has notched two goals in his five appearances since his move to Loftus Road from White Hart Lane – was superb throughout, as Stuart Pearce’s side made it nine wins on the spin with another convincing victory.
Townsend, who missed last Thursday’s win against Romania owing to a knock, was recalled to the side against the Austrians and played the full 90 minutes, enhancing his ever-growing reputation with a fine display at Brighton’s AMEX Stadium.
Jonjo Shelvey, Josh McEachran, Marvin Sordell and Connor Wickham netted, as Pearce’s side kept another clean sheet against nine-man Austria who had a player sent off in each half.
The Young Lions can now look forward to June 5th and will hope to continue their run when they meet Italy in their opening game of Euro 2013 in Tel Aviv.
