Jon Moss set to take charge of live Sky Sports clash with Fulham ...

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY’S west London derby against Fulham will be refereed by West Yorkshire based official Jonathan Moss.

It will be the head teacher’s third R’s outing this term having previously taken charge against Everton and Norwich City at Loftus Road.

During the encounter against the Toffees, Moss sent off Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar whilst Rangers 0-0 draw with the Canaries saw the official hand QPR a penalty after Jamie Mackie was brought down in the Norwich penalty area.

Moss took charge of two QPR games last season; our 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road and defeat against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Sunderland-born Moss grew up as a keen local footballer and won a football scholarship at the University of Connecticut, but instead decided to complete his studies at the University of Leeds.

This early interest in football led Moss to become a qualified referee in 1988, via a course taken during his A-level studies.

However, Moss didn't focus on refereeing until after he had stopped playing football in 1999.

After progressing through the Northern Counties East League and Northern Premier League, Moss was eventually promoted to the National Group of assistant referees in 2003.

Moss was then rewarded referee status for the 2005 Conference Play-Off Final between Carlisle United and Stevenage.

The 42 year-old progressed to the National Group of referees in the same year.

Moss became a regular official in the Football League and was appointed to the Select Group of referees in 2011.

2011 was the year that Moss finally broke through into the Select Group of Referees.

He has taken charge of 25 matches this season, issuing 71 yellow cards and one red. He has awarded 8 penalties.

S Long and R Ganffield will assist Moss on Monday evening, with C Foy taking up the fourth official role.
