Eleven students from QPR in the Community Partner School, Paddington Academy, recently took part in the BBC School Report Project.

The youngsters attended a workshop on Monday 28th January 2008 with BBC sports reporter Rob Nothman. Rob, who is a vastly experienced radio journalist, was invited to teach the students about the ever-growing profession of Sports Reporting.

From there, three students from the local 'Unity in the Community' sports project were invited to report on the R's Championship fixture against Bristol City at Loftus Road.

The winning trio, Adedamola Laoyle, Ayoab Osmon and Cosmo Taylor, sat with the local, national and international reporters in the Press Box and attended the post-match press conference, where one of them even put a question to visiting Robins boss Gary Johnson.

The 'Unity in the Community' project is set to expand in the coming months, to link up with the BBC, QPR, local Secondary Schools, The Press Association and local sports groups and students.

The eventual aim is to get students to run a sports newspaper in Westminster.

Westminster Co-ordinator, Anthony Hennelly, believes the day was a roaring success, telling www.qpr.co.uk: "The children had a great time and got a fantastic insight into the life of a sports journalist."

QPR Press Manager, Ian Taylor, added: "The three youngsters seemed to be really passionate about sports reporting.

"It's a fantastic profession to be in and hopefully we'll see them back at Loftus Road earning a living in the reporting trade in the not too distant future."
