R's left back Chris Barker believes Rangers are heading in the right direction under new First Team Coach Luigi De Canio.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the former Cardiff City defender is adamant QPR will drag themselves clear of the Championship relegation zone after the international break.
"We're getting there," he said.
"We should be three points better off than we currently are, but in general we've got to be fairly content with the direction we're heading in.
"We've shored it up at the back in the last four weeks or so and now we need to start finishing teams off."
Barker, who has played every minute of every game under the new gaffer, described Saturday's 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace as an 'opportunity missed.'
"We should have been four or five goals up by the time they scored on Saturday, but it wasn't to be.
"A point at Palace isn't a bad result and we'd have probably taken it if we'd have been offered it before kick-off, but it's disappointing because we know we did more than enough to win the game.
"It was a good opportunity missed from our point of view."
