INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Posted on: Wed 14 Nov 2007

A quartet of QPR players are on international duty this week, as Rangers enjoy a rare weekend off from the hustle and bustle of the Coca Cola Championship.

Loanee Ben Sahar will have the hopes of two nations resting on his young shoulders when he links up with his Israel ahead of their Saturday night showdown against Russia.

In the absence of Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun, Sahar is being tipped to start the crucial fixture in Tel Aviv, in which England need Israel to at least draw against the Russians if they are to stand a chance of finishing second in Group E.

Elsewhere, English starlet Michael Mancienne is in line to add to his Under-21 appearances, when Stuart Pearce's side lock horns with Bulgaria on Friday and Portugal four days later.

England are currently top of their European Championship qualifying group, with four wins out of four.

Fellow R's defender Damion Stewart is on international duty with Jamaica against Guatemala on Sunday, while midfielder Nicky Ward has linked up with the Quantas Young Socceroos for their forthcoming fixtures against Iraq (Saturday) and Korea (next Wednesday).
