WAITING IN THE WINGS

Posted on: Thu 03 Apr 2008

R's teenage sensation Angelo Balanta has been placed on standby for the England Under-18 squad.

The 17 year-old - who has made seven appearances in all competitions for the R's this season, scoring one goal - was born in Colombia, but holds a British passport and is therefore eligible to represent the Three Lions.

Brian Eastick's side lock horns with Austria at Hartlepool United's Victoria Park ground on Wednesday 16th April.

The England coach has selected 18 players for the clash and in the event of one or more pulling out, Balanta could be in line to make his international debut.
