QPR Ladies U18s are celebrating this week after winning the Surrey Women's & Girls' League on Tuesday night.

The R's secured the title with a narrow 4-3 victory over closest rivals Merstham FC. The game looked to be heading for a draw before Louise Clarke smashed home a late winner for the Hoops.

Following the nerve-wracking fixture, QPR U18 Manager Dave Robinson told www.qpr.co.uk: "I've just turned 30 and this team knows how to bring the grey hairs out in me! We played fantastic, but yet again failed to finish the game off when we could have done.

"But fair play to them, they never panicked and showed great character and determination to get the vital goal we were after.

"This achievement is greater than winning the double last season in my opinion because we are the youngest team in this division, with some girls playing three years above their level.

"Their willingness to improve week in, week out has been rewarded with the championship.

"They are a wonderful advert for girls football. We, as a team, pride ourselves on being role models on and off the pitch for our younger sides to look up to.

"The new board have expressed an interest in the Girls set up which is fantastic as the Club moves into a bright new future."
