EXCLUSIVE: RADEK'S RARING TO GO

Posted on: Fri 20 Jun 2008

Czech goalkeeper Radek Cerny believes a top-six finish is 'well within Rangers' sights' next season.

Cerny - who has agreed terms on a two-year deal in W12 and will put pen to paper on Tuesday 1st July - is relishing the opportunity to kick-start his QPR career.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he told www.qpr.co.uk.

"It's an exciting new chapter in my career and I'm looking forward to starting life as a QPR player."

He added: "I think promotion is realistic, but we must start the season on the front foot. The Championship is a long, hard campaign and we need to focus on starting the season in a positive fashion.

"First or second, I don't know - but I think the top-six is our target."

Cerny has certainly done his homework on all things Rangers - and even sought advice from Petr Cech and Jan Stejskal, amongst others, before opting for a move to W12.

"Jan Stejskal and Ludek Miklosko, who I know very well, spoke in good terms about the Club. They were very complimentary about QPR," he said.

"I spoke to Petr Cech about the training ground and I've also chatted at length with Ben Alnwick about the Championship.

"It seems like a very good Club, with great history and tradition."

The 34 year-old, who will be competing with Lee Camp for the Rangers number one jersey, is looking forward to the start of the season, commenting: "I've had a nice rest and I can't wait for the season to begin.

"I just want to establish myself in the squad and show the fans what I can do.

"I've seen Lee in action a few times and I've spoken to Ben Alnwick who said he's a very good, young goalkeeper.

"I'm looking forward to meeting him and the other lads - I can't wait to get started."
