Icelandic international Heidar Helguson is no stranger to the Championship, having spent five and a half years at fellow second tier side Watford.

The Hornets signed the front-man from Norwegian side Lillestrom for £1.5 million in January 2000, but it was not until they were relegated from the Premiership that Hornets fans began to see the best of him.

In the 2002/03 season, he fired Watford to safety with 13 goals and topped that total in 2004/05 with 20.

After making nearly 200 appearances for the Golden Boys, such an achievement alerted Premiership Clubs to his prowess and Fulham snapped him up for a cool £1.3 million.

He struggled to force his way into the First Team, however, and made only 63 appearances, scoring 14 goals, at Craven Cottage.

With chances for First Team action hard to come by, Helguson moved on to Bolton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee. However, he has barely featured for the Trotters, making only 10 appearances since July 2007, two of which have been this season.

He is, however, a capped international on the world stage and scored his latest goal against Malta on Wednesday night.
