ROWLANDS: WE'LL BE READY!

Posted on: Thu 04 Dec 2008

Martin Rowlands has dubbed the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers to Loftus Road on Saturday tea-time as the R's 'biggest fixture of the season.'

Rangers go into the match buoyed by an encouraging start under new boss Paulo Sousa, and the midfield maestro believes his team-mates are ready to spring a surprise in W12.

"It goes without saying that this is one of our biggest fixtures of the season to date," he told www.qpr.co.uk.

"They are flying high at the top of the Championship table and have proven quality throughout their squad.

"Their league position is no fluke and we know that we will need to be at our very best to topple them this evening. However, we have begun life well under the new gaffer and this is a genuine opportunity for us to lay down a marker against one of our promotion rivals."

Rowlands believes the presence of the Sky Sports cameras also adds extra spice to the occasion, commenting: "The fact that the match will also be beamed to an audience of millions gives us an extra incentive to prove what a good side we are on our day.

"We have already proved with our victory over Birmingham City earlier this season that we are capable of competing with the very best sides this division has to offer, and for that reason alone, there is no reason whatsoever why we can't cause what many will see as another upset on Saturday."
