GORKSS RELISHING SEASIDERS RETURN

Posted on: Tue 27 Jan 2009

Kaspars Gorkss insists he is relishing his return to former Club Blackpool on Tuesday night, although he admits he isn't altogether sure what kind of reception he'll get from the Seasiders' faithful.

The Latvian defender enjoyed a successful 18 month spell with the Tangerines before joining the R's in the summer, and although he hopes the Seasiders' supporters will remember the fine form which saw him notch eight goals in his first full season with the Club, he is acutely aware of the potential for the Blackpool boo-boys to make his return to Bloomfield Road a difficult one.

"I'd like to think the majority of the Blackpool fans will remember how well I did for them," he told www.qpr.co.uk.

"Having said that, I know how football works and of course I'm expecting a mixed reception."

Gorkss was an unused substitute when the two Clubs locked horns in a 1-1 draw at Loftus Road earlier this season, but having featured regularly under the guidance of Paulo Sousa in recent months, he's champing at the bit to play against his former team-mates.

"There were boos when my name was read out in the match at Loftus Road," he recalled.

"Of course, I was eager to get on that night, but we were trailing for long periods and the circumstances didn't allow it.

"It will be great to go back and see the lads on Tuesday though, and hopefully I can play my part in another QPR victory."
