The draw for the first round of the 2009/10 Carling Cup will take place at 10.00am on Tuesday morning.

A total of 70 Football League Clubs will appear in the First Round draw, including the R's, while Newcastle United and Middlesbrough receive byes as the highest-placed Clubs in last season's league tables.

The next 35 Clubs in last season's tables (down to Walsall - 13th place in League One) will be seeded and drawn against the remaining 35 Clubs.

The draw has also been regionalised, with 17 Northern pairings and 18 Southern ones.

Based on that, Rangers will face one of the following unseeded opponents in the opening round: AFC Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Barnet, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burton Albion, Cheltenham Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Exeter City, Gillingham, Hereford United, Leyton Orient, Northampton Town, Shrewsbury Town, Swindon Town, Torquay United, Wycombe Wanderers or Yeovil Town.

Ties are due to be played in the week commencing Monday 10th August.
