R's fan Ian Samuel couldn't quite believe his luck when he logged on to www.qpr.co.uk a few weeks ago to learn of the R's pre-season tour to Slovenia.

Samuel, who hails from Staines, moved to the country five years ago, so when news broke of the impending tour to his new home, he was understandably delighted.

"I couldn't quite believe it, he told www.qpr.co.uk at the R's open training session at FC Mura, in Murska Sobota, yesterday.

"It's a dream come true for me to be able to watch the lads train here."

Samuel doesn't get to Loftus Road as much as he'd like nowadays, but he's doing his best to spread the words of all-things Rangers in Slovenia.

"I'd love to be able to come and watch the R's more regularly," he said.

"My wife is from Sheffield, but I'm doing my best to ensure our four kids are QPR fans.

"And I did my best to convert a local building firm here from supporting the R's, instead of Manchester United. I kitted them out in hats last year! I didn't last for too long, but at least they know who we are now!"

Samuel was one of a dozen or so R's fans who watched Wednesday night's 2-2 draw with NK Celje - and he was suitably impressed.

"I thought we played well against Celje," he said.

"They're not a bad side. There were chances at both ends, but I think we more than edged it.

"The heat was obviously a big factor for our lads, but I think the Manager will view it as a valuable workout."
