QPR take on Southampton this Saturday in the final friendly fixture ahead of the start of the new campaign.

Jim Magilton has seen his men gradually improve as pre-season has progressed, culminating in Tuesday night's highly impressive 2-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers.

Now the Rangers boss is hoping to see a further step-up in quality when his charges face his former team at Loftus Road.

"I'm looking forward to this game," he told www.qpr.co.uk

"Southampton is one of the results I always look out for on a Saturday evening.

"It's a great Football Club, and really it's very sad to see how things have gone down there.

"But in Alan Pardew they've got a great man in charge who is more than capable of turning things around for them.

"I expect it to be a tough game for us tomorrow, and it is the right sort of preparation that we need going into Blackpool at home."

Akos Buzsaky, Alejandro Faurlin and Mikele Leigertwood once again miss out owing to thigh strains while Radek Cerny is also unavailable due to illness.

QPR Squad: Ainsworth, Alberti, Agyemang, Balanta, Brown, Borrowdale, Ephraim, Gorkss, Hall, Helguson, Mahon, Marshall, Pellicori, Putnins, Ramage, Routledge, Rowlands, Stewart, Taarabt, Vine.
