SERVED ITS PURPOSE
QPR's second-string went down 5-3 in a friendly match against Crystal Palace on Tuesday afternoon, but Reserve Team Manager Keith Ryan was happy with the work-out the fixture provided his players.
With no match scheduled until mid-December, Ryan was eager to organise a game for the benefit of the First Team.
The fixture was held at Palace's Beckenham Training Ground but with no linesmen or referee available, it was officiated by Eagles' Development Coach Ronnie Jepson, while youngsters ran the line.
Following the match, which saw Fitz Hall make a successful return from the back injury he sustained at Sheffield Wednesday, Ryan told www.qpr.co.uk: "It was a very useful exercise for us.
"The scoreline wasn't important. Obviously you want to win every match but, with no recognised linesmen, it did make things difficult.
"The defence were operating a well-organised, high backline and at least three of Palace's goals would never normally have stood.
"But the game provided a number of First Team players the opportunity to get vital match minutes under their belts."
Alessandro Pellicori was on target twice for the R's, while substitute Sam Bewick also registered for Ryan's side.
QPR: Bulmer, Ramage (Bailey, 65), Hall (Harris, 65), Stewart (Harriman, 65), Borrowdale (Bewick, 75), Ephraim (German, 75), Ehmer, Alberti, Parker, Agyemang, Pellicori.
