Matt Hill is adamant the officials blundered following his challenge that led to Reading's late winner on Tuesday night.
Hill believes he won the ball in his tussle with Gylfi Sigurdsson that resulted in Mr Ward pointing to the spot.
"It was good skill from the lad, but as he's reached, I'm sure I played the ball away for a corner kick," Hill told www.qpr.co.uk.
"I was ready to go back in and defend the set-piece and then the referee points for a penalty.
"He's kidded the referee - I know I touched the ball, so it's bitterly disappointing."
Rangers defended courageously throughout the 90 minutes, especially in the second half when they were reduced to ten men following Damion Stewart's sending off on the stroke of half-time.
"We worked so hard with ten men, so to lose the game in that manner is very disappointing," said Hill.
"I thought Damion went for the ball for his first booking. It wasn't high - the lad ducked and the referee gave him a yellow, which was a poor decision.
"It ruined the game and he never let it flow throughout the 90 minutes."
