ROB HULSE: IN PROFILE

Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010

Born in Crewe on 25 October 1979, Rob Hulse joins forces with Neil Warnock for a second time, having worked under the R's boss in their time at Sheffield United.

Equally as good on the floor as he is the air, the big striker started his professional career with Crewe Alexandra, having come through the ranks at Gresty Road.

Hulse would go onto be a firm fans' favourite with the Railwaymen, with the frontman finishing top goalscorer for three consecutive seasons - the third a 23-goal haul that also saw him win the Club's Player of the Year award, as well as being named in the then PFA Division Two Team of the Year.

The forward's consistently hot goalscoring form hardly went unnoticed, and following an eventual total of 131 appearances and 51 goals, he would earn a move to West Bromwich Albion in 2003.

Hulse made a notable contribution to Albion's promotion to the Premier League that very season.

However, the striker's chances of First Team football were limited following the Baggies' return to the top-flight, and in 2005, he opted for a move to Leeds United after 46 appearances and 13 goals, initially on a loan deal, before a permanent transfer.

The attacker spent just under a year-and-a-half at Elland Road, where he would go onto make 58 appearances for the Whites, scoring 20 times.

In July 2006, Hulse would link-up with Warnock for the first time at Sheffield United, following the Blades' promotion to the Premier League.

Hulse spent two years at Bramall Lane, scoring eight times in the league in 38 starts, before a switch to Derby County in 2008.

The striker certainly knows where the net is and his spell with the Rams has been no different, with 82 league appearances leading to 28 goals.
