FURLONG AWARD
Paul Furlong has scooped the Championship's PFA Fans Player of the Month award for October.
The accolade which is voted for by fans of football everywhere on the PFA's website has seen Furlong romp away with last month's title, thanks to an impressive set of displays in the Championship.
Furlong, who scored his tenth goal of the season against Millwall last night, has now made it a double in terms of winning honours after picking up September's Evening Standard's player of the month.
Speaking about his magnificent achievement, he said: "It's great to have picked up this award, especially after having won the Evening Standard's player of the month in September as well.
"I'm still enthusiastic about playing and scoring and I can't believe how well it's going so far this season. There was a lot of expectation on the team after winning promotion last year and people weren't sure how we would do, but it's all going really well."
Although he is proving to be the man of the moment, Furlong was happy to share the credit with his team mates: "Obviously I'm pleased with the goals that I'm scoring, but I'm happier that the results seem to be going our way as a team.
"There are so many people who play a part in the team's performance. We've got a great manager in the driving seat and wonderful staff. We really do work hard in training and leave no stone unturned."
October's winners from other divisions include Manchester United's Wayne Rooney in the Premiership, Bournemouth's Wade Elliott in League One and Southend's Adam Barrett in League Two.
Furlong will now go head to head with this season's fellow Championship monthly winners for the title of PFA Fan's Player of the Year.
