FORWARD DILEMMA

Posted on: Wed 01 Feb 2006

Nygaard

Rangers welcome Leicester City to Loftus Road after their 4th Round FA Cup defeat to Southampton and Ian Holloway faces a selection dilemma upfront with five strikers fighting for two places.

Marc Nygaard came through his 45 minutes at Luton unscathed and now has another weeks full training under his belt.

New signing Sammy Youssouf will hope to be in the squad, but Rangers are still waiting for his international clearance so he may have to wait until the visit to Elland Road to make his debut.

Paul Furlong will be hoping for a start and he scored the winner against Leicester back in September and also scored the winner in last year's memorable encounter against City at Loftus Road.

Stefan Moore and Shabazz Baidoo also come into the equation - both youngsters will be keen to impress Holloway as competition for places hots up.

With the transfer window yet to close, Holloway may even add to his squad before Tuesday night's game.

Rowlands faces a late fitness test

Two players who may not be available for selection are Matthew Rose and Martin Rowlands. Both will face late fitness tests to determine if they can come into the Holloway's plans.

Marc Bircham is now back in full training but Tuesday night's game will come too soon for him. The midfielder will need continuing attention to ensure he stays fit.

Kevin Gallen has seen a third specialist and a series of injections have been carried out. His injury does appear to be improving although he is yet to run at over 80%.

Dominic Shimmin has had a scan that confirms he is progressing well. If things continue to go to plan he should be back in full training within the next couple of weeks.
