Rangers striker Marc Nygaard was onside to show his support to Football Aid recently - urging fans to take part in the ultimate football experience and make charity the winner.

A firm favourite with the fans, Nygaard met QPR's latest 'signing' and midfielder in the making, Steven Astaire this week in an effort to promote Football Aid's bidding 06.

A lifelong Rangers fan, Steve was one of the first fans to secure his place in the Football Aid game taking place at
Loftus Road this Spring and was delighted to have his place in the QPR team sheet confirmed by the Danish International.

After proudly watching his son, Nicholas, make a dazzling debut for the Super Hoops in the Football Aid event last May - Nicholas earned himself man of the match with his rip-roaring hat trick, securing victory for his Home side - Steven was quick to sign up for this years event.

Nicholas will be earning his second cap, but in a controversial move, the men will take opposing sides in the hotly anticipated match.

Steven said: "It will be a case of family battle rather than family bonding on the football field! I have been a season ticket holder since 1967 and was an original shareholder
in QPR when Jim Gregory owned it so I am in it to win! Although a hat trick will be hard to beat!"

The deadly Danish striker, Nygaard continues: "Football Aid is a great idea which really gives something back to the fans, a thank you for their continued support. I am sure it is every football fans dream to play for the Club they support and Football Aid offers them the unique chance to do just that."

"I will certainly be interested to learn the result of this upcoming match. It will certainly be as competitive as any Championship one!"

Founded in 2000, Football Aid was developed as a unique and innovative way of raising money to find a cure for diabetes.Over 250 games - involving an incredible 7000 players - have taken place throughout the UK since Football Aid's conception, raising over £650,000 for a wide range of charities locally, nationally and around the globe.

In teams managed by former Club legends, fans have the chance to pull on the famous jersey and play on the hallowed turf of the Club they support.

Whilst experiencing the chance of a lifetime, the fans contribute to a number of charitable causes through Football Aid's parent charity, Field of Dreams' multi beneficiary grant award scheme.

In this, funds raised are distributed to diabetes research, education and management projects and also to the participating Clubs nominated charities.
