CAPTAIN MARVEL

Posted on: Fri 25 Aug 2006

With injury ruling out Martin Rowlands and Gareth Ainsworth, R's skipper Kevin Gallen makes his first league start of the season against Ipswich Town in front of the live Sky Sports cameras tonight.

Rowlands (calf) and Ainsworth (hamstring) have both failed to shake off their respective injuries, meaning Gallen - who bagged the R's second goal in their thrilling 3-2 win against Northampton Town on Tuesday night - will occupy the right midfield role, with Steve Lomas starting in the heart of the R's midfield engine room.

Nicky Ward has overcome a slight calf strain to partner Lomas in the middle of the park, while Lee Cook continues on the left flank.

The back four remains unchanged from the 1-1 draw at Deepdale, while Tuesday's last-gasp hero, Ray Jones, partners Dexter Blackstock in attack.

Egutu Oliseh is once again named amongst the R's substitutes, as Gary Waddock's men go gunning for a second league win of the campaign.

Prolific front-man Nicky Forster misses out for the Tractor Boys, who are yet to register a league victory this season.
