WADS OPTS FOR A B&B

Posted on: Wed 20 Sep 2006

Stefan Bailey

Stefan Bailey and Marcus Bignot return to the fold, as the R's take on Port Vale in the second round of the Carling Cup tonight.

The duo - who have been knocking on the door for a first team recall in the wake of the R's poor form of late - have been given a chance to prove their worth against their high-flying Coca Cola League One opponents at Vale Park.

Bignot lines up at right back, in a back four which also includes Pat Kanyuka, Damion Stewart and Mauro Milanese, while Bailey partners man of the moment Marc Bircham in central midfield.

The midfield quartet is completed by Lee Cook and Nicky Ward, while Marc Nygaard partners Adam Czerkas in attack.

Jake Cole continues in goal, with Paul Jones yet to fully recover from a bout of illness.

R's loanee Stefan Moore is unable to play against his employers, which means Leon Constantine is partnered by Akpo Sodje up front for the Valiants.

Victory for the R's could set up a potential meeting with a Premiership Club in round three, so the incentive is huge, as Gary Waddock's men go gunning for only their third victory of the season.

Port Vale: Goodlad, Pilkington, Talbot, Sonner, Walker, Harsley, Constantine, Smith, Whitaker, McGregor, Sodje.

Subs: Anyon, Husbands, Lowndes, Cardle, Abbey.

QPR: Cole, Bignot, Stewart, Kanyuka, Milanese, Ward, Bircham, Bailey, Cook, Czerkas, Nygaard.

Subs: Rehman, Rose, Baidoo, Donnelly, R Jones.
