MATCHDAY PREVIEW: LEYTON ORIENT
Having survived by the skin of their teeth last season, Leyton Orient will be keen to consolidate their place in League One in the 2007/08 campaign.
After winning promotion to League One in 2006, the O's endured a difficult season in the third tier for the first time since 1994/95, having spent most of the season in or around the relegation zone.
However, an improvement in fortunes after Christmas - including memorable wins against Millwall, Tranmere Rovers and a vital win at eventually-relegated Bradford City near the end of the season - helped Martin Ling's side to a 20th place finish, one spot above the relegation zone.
Orient's less than spectacular start to life in League One led to wholesale changes at Brisbane Road this summer.
Most of the promotion-winning side left at the end of the season, through a combination of players released and some rejecting new contracts.
The Club's longest-serving player, Matthew Lockwood, was one of a handful of players to depart, when he joined fellow League One outfit Nottingham Forest, for an undisclosed fee.
Ling, a former Orient player and currently the seventh longest serving Manager in England, wasted no time in replacing those moving on though, adding a number of new faces to his squad.
The most high-profile arrival saw former Hartlepool United strike ace Adam Boyd join the Club.
Boyd signed a two-year deal following his release from Luton Town and his form could be key, if the O's are to improve upon last season's disappointing showing.
"Adam will be a great signing,'' said Ling.
"He didn't have the best of times last season but he's a quality player and I'm confident we'll get the best out of him''
It appears Ling's magic touch has already rubbed off on the former Hartlepool ace.
Boyd and fellow debutant Sean Thornton scored as Orient started the new season with a 2-0 victory against Southend United on Saturday.
