QPR rescued Iceland international Helguson from Bolton Wanderers after the former Watford man fell out of favour under then-Manager Gary Megson.
Initially signed on a loan deal, he made the move to W12 permanent as soon as the transfer window opened in January 2009.
Three goals in seven appearances indicated a man relieved to be back playing, and he has added a new dimension to the Rangers attack with tireless work rate and phenomenal aerial prowess.
Helguson went on to finish the campaign with five goals in 21 appearances in all competitions.
