A wholehearted, committed and versatile defender, Peter Ramage joined QPR on a free transfer from boyhood Club Newcastle United in the summer of 2008 - and he has since gone on to be a real fans' favourite in W12.

The Loftus Road faithful appreciate players who - like Clint Hill and Shaun Derry - are willing to put a shift in, and Ramage certainly falls into that bracket.

Last season, the defender suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in QPR's 3-0 win at home to Middlesbrough in September that ruled him out for the majority of the campaign.

He did, however, manage to recover in time to come on as a second-half substitute in the Hoops' 2-0 victory at Watford in April - the day the R's clinched the npower Championship title.

Ramage joined Newcastle at the tender age of 11.

Born in Ashington, the enthusiastic stopper - who made 51 starts for his boyhood Club prior to his move to the R's - favours playing at centre-half but is also just as comfortable at right-back.

Ramage is also committed to the Club's community projects and, at the 2010/11 Player of the Year awards, the defender was handed the QPR Community Award for his outstanding contribution to projects run by QPR's Community Trust.

The defender signed a one-year contract extension this summer, keeping him at the Club until the end of the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season.
