QPR Ladies have sealed their place back in the FA Women's Premier League, after Sunday's 4-1 victory against Plymouth Argyle helped clinch the South West Combination League title.

Martino Chevannes' side went into the game knowing victory was a must, and they duly delivered the goods, with goals from Eartha Pond (2), Cherrelle Albert and Amy Murphy clinching the win - and the coveted Championship.

"It's a fantastic achievement for the Club," Chevannes told www.qpr.co.uk.

"The players have been fantastic all season long and to beat Plymouth, our closest rivals, in such emphatic style tells you all you need to know about the squad."

Chevannes continued: "We've led the division from start to finish, with the exception of one week when we didn't have a game, and we've also conceded the least amount of goals and scored the most goals, so we're very worthy Champions.

"The togetherness and the spirit within the squad is exceptional and that will stand us in good stead for next season."

Rangers clinched their place in the national elite of women's football with a first class display against the Devon-based outfit.

Albert, the divisions' top scorer, opened the scoring on the half hour, nodding a bouncing ball over the advancing Pilgrims custodian.

And the R's doubled their lead early in the second half, when Pond dispatched a 54th minute penalty, awarded after a Plymouth player was adjudged to have handled inside the box.

Argyle were reduced to ten players 11 minutes from time, when Laura Perrett was given her marching orders and Rangers made their numerical advantage count moments later, when Pond fired home from ten yards.

The rout was complete in the 82nd minute, when Murphy burst through from halfway before firing low past the Argyle keeper.

The visitors were reduced to nine when Kay Lewis received a second yellow card and a subsequent red, but to their credit, they continued to plug away, with Katie Middleton bagging a last minute consolation from the spot.

But it was Rangers' day and the celebrations at the full-time whistle told their own story, as the R's finished the campaign in emphatic style.

Chevannes said: "They were exceptional, from one to eleven, as well as the substitutes who came on.

"But special praise has to go to Tammy Scrivens, who despite carrying a knock, shone from the first minute, leading by example in the middle of midfield."

Rangers will now compete in the National Premier South next season, alongside a number of established Clubs, including local rivals Fulham, Charlton Athletic and West Ham United.

Yet despite acknowledging the strength of the new division, Chevannes is adamant his side can hold their own next season.

"We've been there before and having watched a lot of football at this level, I'm confident we can hold our own.

"The sides that have gone up from our division to the Premier League in the past have all done themselves justice and now it's up to us to do the same."

Chevannes also hailed the support of his backroom team this season, as well as the army of R's supporters who have followed their every kick this term.

"My staff have been a credit to themselves and the Football Club," he said.

"My assistant Antony Smith, coaches Tony Milstead and Miguel De Souza, and our physio Vicky Rainey, deserved a lot of praise, as do the supporters. They've followed us every step of the way and I'm sure their fantastic support will continue in the Premier League next season.

"I'd also like to personally thank David Baker and Kevin McGrath for their continual support over the last few seasons. Without their financial input and dedication to the side, we could have quite easily folded a few years ago, so I am eternally grateful to them both."
