QPR Reserves went down to a 1-0 defeat in their Totesport.com Combination Central Division fixture against Leyton Orient at the Recreation Ground.

Despite being dominant from the first whistle, Rangers conceded the only goal of the game inside the 30 minutes, after a driven attempt was harshly adjudged to have hit the hand of an R's defender, who was standing just three yards away from the effort.

Despite the defeat, Rangers have been boosted by the news that Lee Cook completed the first 45 minutes without any reaction to his recent long-term knee injury, putting himself in contention for a place in Mick Harford's squad for Saturday's fixture with Scunthorpe United.

Antonio German missed a glorious chance to equalise in the final minutes, though Reserve team boss Keith Ryan says he was pleased with his team's performance in general.

"We went down by a single goal to a strong Orient side, but we gave a good account of ourselves," Ryan told www.qpr.co.uk.

"I felt that their penalty was very soft. It was struck at one of our players from about three-yards out, who had no chance.

"Lee Cook came through the game without any problems, and played around 45 minutes. That's great news for all concerned.

"We were probably the better side throughout the match, and apart from their penalty, they never really had a shot on goal.

"Antonio German probably should score with a header five minutes from time, but we did very well."
