Neil Warnock described the performance of his players as 'super' despite their 1-0 reverse against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
Dominant for spells of the first period, the R's were dealt a killer blow on the stroke of half time when Damion Stewart was sent off for a second-bookable offence.
QPR appeared to have achieved a hard-fought point as the second half drew to a close, only for Gylfi Sigurdsson to blast home from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box by Matt Hill on 85 minutes.
However, despite the result, Warnock was still upbeat after seeing his side go so close even though they were made to play with ten men for the whole of the second half.
"I'm disappointed with the result. I thought we did super, I really enjoyed it," Warnock told www.qpr.co.uk.
"I said to the players that you don't always get what you deserve in football.
"We were the better side with 11 men, and I thought we were better than Reading in the first half.
"I'm disappointed with Damion's first booking, it never was. I don't like to see opponents surrounding a referee, we're told not to do it.
"However, it was a silly second card when you've already been booked."
He added: "I thought we defended really well in the second half.
"If you put a foot out in this game, you're inviting a penalty.
"I thought the decision was wrong, but 90 per cent of referees would have given it.
"The players are still learning what I'm trying to do. It's a fine line, but we have to move on.
"I've learned a lot about the players tonight. We lost the game, but I'm really proud of the lads."
