WORK IN PROGRESS
Under-18 midfielder Danny Maguire has joined AFC Wimbledon for a period of work experience.
Maguire, who is just returning from a six-month absence owing to a broken bone in his foot, joined the Dons yesterday (Monday), but isn't expected to officially link up with the Ryman Premier Division outfit until later in the month.
Youth Team Manager Steve Brown explained more: "Danny is working his way back to full fitness, but their deadline was fast approaching so we decided to do the deal," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
"Our physio's are monitoring Danny's progress, but we won't rush him back and it could just be that he links up with them for the final few weeks of the season."
Maguire's Under-18 team-mate Romone Rose has enjoyed a fruitful period with the Dons under an identical agreement, and Brown is expecting the young midfielder to make a similar impact once he returns to full fitness.
"First and foremost, it will provide great experience for him," said Brown.
"Danny has got all the attributes needed to succeed as a professional footballer - what we want from him now is for him to really kick on and progress.
"It's a great opportunity for him. It will really help him to develop his game, and I'm sure he will cope with the step up."
Under the terms of the agreement, Maguire will still be available to feature for the R's second string.
