R's youngster Frankie Sutherland enhanced his ever-growing reputation with a goal, as the Republic of Ireland Under-17's beat Hungary on Tuesday night.
Sutherland and Daniel Purdy gave the Irish a morale-booting result to put them in confident mood for next month's UEFA Championship elite phase qualifiers in Greece.
The shooting power of Sutherland was on show from as early as the eighth minute when the R's midfielder unleashed a shot from fully 25-yards which sailed inches over the crossbar.
Sutherland was a constant menace throughout the first half and when he was sent tumbling to ground inside the box midway through the half, Eire were aggrieved that the officials waved away their vocal appeals for a spot-kick.
However, the hosts weren't to be denied and on 35 minutes, Sutherland stepped up to curl a free-kick over the wall into the top corner past the despairing dive of David Haladas Dombo.
Purdy sealed victory for Ireland on 66 minutes, to round off a thoroughly convincing display from the hosts.
