UNDER-18'S IN SEMI-FINAL SPOT-KICK TRIUMPH

Posted on: Wed 10 Mar 2010

QPR Under-18's have reached the final of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup Area Final.

Steve Gallen's young-guns advanced courtesy of a spot-kick triumph over Exeter City in the last four at Harlington this afternoon.

After the teams were locked at 2-2 at the end of extra-time, the R's booked their place in the final thanks to a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory.

Elliott Cox opened the scoring for Gallen's side in the first half, before Exeter grabbed a leveller soon after.

Just before half-time, Christian Nanetti headed home the R's second, only for the Grecians to draw level for a second time on the stroke of full-time.

Extra-time failed to produce any further goals and - after Joseph Wright saved from the spot - it was left to Danny Fernandez (pictured) to notch the all-important winning penalty to book a final showdown against the victors of the Millwall versus Peterborough United semi-final.
