ABDENASSER El Khayati is a player R's boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink knows only too well.
Having signed the Dutchman during his days as Burton Albion boss the Rangers manager once again swooped to bring him to West London in January 2016.
Twelve goals in 17 appearances for Dutch third tier side Kozakken Boys earned 'Nasser' - as he's affectionately known - a trial with Championship side Reading at the back end of 2014, but when a deal failed to materialise as the Madejski Stadium, Hasselbaink saw the talent in his fellow Dutchman and gave him a chance with the Brewers.
Although signed from the third tier of Dutch football, El Khayati was brought up through the PSV Eindhoven youth system followed by spells with Den Bosch and NAC Breda. A short spell in Cyprus followed before returning to spark his career with Kozakken.
In this first season at the Pirelli Stadium, he netted three goals in 18 appearances, as Hasselbaink's side clinched promotion from League Two with El Khayati signing a long term contract. His form the following season hit even greater heights, scoring eight goals in 26 appearances from a left-sided midfield role helping the Brewers to the top of League One in January.
His performances prompted the Hoops to come calling and having now acclimatised to the division big things are expected of the tricky winger for the upcoming 2016/17 season.
