Cardiff City 2, QPR 1

It's all over at the Cardiff City Stadium. Rangers fall to defeat despite taking a 15th-minute lead through Matt Smith but, on the balance of play, the hosts were worthy winners. Full reaction to come on QPR.co.uk ...

A goalmouth scramble in Cardiff's box eventually ends with goalkeeper Etheridge turning the ball out for a corner, which then comes to nothing.

Second home change

Bruno Ecuele Manga comes on for Junior Hoilett.

Four minutes added!

The fourth official's board indicates how long we have left here.

Rangers' Scowen skews over from 20 yards.

Today's attendance

Confirmed as 18,520.

Cardiff sub

First of the afternoon for the home side. Danny Ward replaces Loic Damour.

Ten to go

The R's have just about kept their heads above water. Can they now nick a point?

What a save!

It's some stop from Smithies, who somehow keeps out Zahore's eight-yard strike.

High and wide

Hoilett blazes over from 20 yards.

Last roll of the dice

Former City man Steven Caulker is given warm applause as he comes off for Pawel Wszolek.

Second sub

Conor Washington makes way for Yeni Ngbakoto.

Smithies again

Joe Ralls' 18-yard attempt bounces up for the custodian to catch.

Smithies holds

Cardiff's Morrison heads a free-kick from deep into the arms of Hoops 'keeper Smithies.

Cardiff on top

QPR are desperately trying to find a way back into the match, but it's the hosts who are bossing proceedings currently. Come on, Rangers!

First change

Rangers introduce Idrissa Sylla, at the expense of Jamie Mackie.

Just wide

Hoilett's low effort is deflected wide. The resultant corner comes to nothing.

Tipped over

Rangers hanging on currently. Smithies has just turned a 12-yard Hoilett blast over the target.

Bluebirds full-back Lee Peltier strikes the bar from an acute angle.

Cardiff's Hoilett turns home a right-wing centre at close range - but he's adjudged to have fouled Furlong in the build-up.

No way past

Conor Washington's free-kick is charged down before the referee penalises Rangers for a foul.

Back underway

The second half commences ...

Cardiff City 2, QPR 1

The referee's whistle brings the first half to a close.

R's behind

Rangers trail at the Cardiff City Stadium for the first time this afternoon. After Smithies fashioned a fine save to keep out Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Sol Bamba rises to nod home Hoilett's resultant corner.

Jamie Mackie strikes the post for Rangers - his 20-yard effort had Etheridge beaten.

Zahore's edge-of-the-box free-kick flies over the crossbar.

Luongo chance / Furlong booking

Mass Luongo sees his 16-yard effort blocked on the line then, straight up the other end, Darnell Furlong is shown a yellow card for a late challenge.

... but we're all-square following Hoilett's equaliser.

Smith goal

Here's the moment Matt Smith made it 1-0 ...

Entertaining half hour

Plenty of action in the first 30 minutes at the Cardiff City Stadium. Given the nature of the equaliser, Rangers will probably be disappointed that they don't still lead here.

Hoilett goes close again

The wide man's curling 18-yard effort is tipped around the post by Smithies.

Cardiff restore parity

Hoilett levels matters. He charges down Onuoha's under-hit back-pass, before Smithies' subsequent clearance cannons back off the former QPR winger - and the ball ends up in the back of the net.

Well held

Hoilett's 16-yard snap-shot forces a smart take from Smithies.

QPR lead

It's 1-0 to the Super Hoops! Luke Freeman sends a ball from deep into the direction of Matt Smith in the box, who shrugs off Sean Morrison before powering a header past goalkeeper Neil Etheridge. Get in, Rangers!

Close encounter

We have witnessed a physical but tight opening 10 minutes here. Little to note as yet.

First chance

Cardiff man Kenneth Zohore's tickled effort from 12-yards out is easily caught by Alex Smithies.

Josh okay

Rangers' Josh Scowen took a blow to the head when going in for an aerial challenge. But, after some treatment, the midfielder is fine to continue.

Play gets underway at the Cardiff City Stadium!

Here they come!

The teams are out at the Cardiff City Stadium. Kick-off moments away ...

R's skipper Nedum Onuoha will be hoping to lead the team to victory here at the Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon.

Win today and it'll have been some August (and start to the season!) for the Super Hoops ...

Breaking QPR Team News

An almost-entirely different XI to the team fielded against Brentford at Loftus Road in midweek, in the second round of the Carabao Cup, R’s boss Ian Holloway has made three changes to the side he fielded in the league last weekend.

Following our 2-1 W12 success over Hull City seven days ago, Steven Caulker, Darnell Furlong and Matt Smith are in for James Perch (knee), Alex Baptiste and Kazenga LuaLua.

Injury Update

Joel Lynch is doubtful with a hamstring injury, while it is hoped Josh Scowen (ankle) will be fit.

Kazenga LuaLua is also expected to be available after missing Tuesday night’s home Carabao Cup defeat to Brentford on compassionate leave.

James Perch (knee) is out, along with Jordan Cousins (hamstring) and Grant Hall (tendonitis).

Passports at the ready, we are off to Wales!

QPR head to early Sky Bet Championship pacesetters Cardiff City this afternoon, managed by former R's boss Neil Warnock, who will be looking to continue their good start in the league.

Our Matchday Centre will bring you all the latest from the Cardiff City Stadium, including today's live stream for our overseas fans - and live commentary for those of you tuning in from the UK & Ireland.
