Sheffield United 1, QPR 0

Full-time at Bramall Lane - and QPR have fallen to their first defeat in seven outings.

A poor spectacle in the main, with Rangers never quite doing enough to take anything from this encounter.

Reaction to come on www.qpr.co.uk ...

90+2

Over

Wells gets his 20-yard effort all wrong.

90+1

Three minutes added on

Into injury time we go.

Richard Stearman has just replaced goalscorer McGoldrick for United.

87

And so was that!

At the other end, Freeman fires marginally wide from 25 yards for the R's.

85

That was close

Enda Stevens' edge-of-the-area shot for the home side trickles just wide of Lumley's left-hand post.

84

Subs apiece

Sheffield United introduce former QPR striker Leon Clarke, at the expense of Sharp, while Ilias Chair has replaced Josh Scowen.

81

Rangers survive

Three consecutive home corners come to nothing.

78

Booking

Blades sub Dowell is shown a yellow card for unfairly preventing an R's counter.

75

Fifteen to go

Can Rangers nick a point at least?

74

Second R's sub

Matt Smith comes on for Cousins.

73

Freeman attempt

Rangers break but Luke fires tamely at Dean Henderson from 25 yards.

68

Home substitution

Kieran Dowell replaces Duffy.

68

Wide

The hosts pile forward - but Mark Duffy can only drag his box volley wide of the target.

62

First sub

Steve McClaren opts to change things up for the R's, as Bright Osayi-Samuel replaces Pawel Wszolek.

56

Yellow card

United's John Fleck is cautioned for his challenge on Eze.

55

Rangers respond

QPR have applied some pressure of their own in the last few minutes.

The next goal, if there is one, looks to be important.

51

Home pressure

Hunting a second goal, hosts Sheffield United have made a positive start to the closing period.
46

Back underway

We're back underway for the second half at Bramall Lane.

Today's attendance has just been announced as 25,501 (903 QPR).

HT

Sheffield United 1, QPR 0

An opening period of little drama, but Rangers are a goal behind nevertheless following David McGoldrick's 37th-minute header.

The second half is coming up ...

45+1

Two added minutes

We're into stoppage time at the end of the first half here.

43

Henderson gathers

Eze tries his luck from distance, but his low attempt is easily collected by the home goalkeeeper.

41

Over

Cousins' 25-yard blast for Rangers sails over the crossbar.

37

Goal

Rangers trail at Bramall Lane, as McGoldrick powers home a right-flank centre with his head.
31

Half hour gone

It's been a somewhat cagey affair so far.

Still goalless.

26

Norwood again

Another Norwood attempt, from around 20 yards, deflects up into the hands of Lumley.

24

High, wide and handsome

Ollie Norwood's range effort for the Blades fails to trouble Joe Lumley in the R's goal.

18

Wells okay

QPR's Nahki Wells comes off worse in a 50-50 challenge - but is fine to continue after receiving treatment.

12

First booking

Rangers' Jordan Cousins is penalised for a high tackle.

11

Little to note

Apart from that early McGoldrick opportunity, there's been nothing more to report on during the opening 10 or so minutes.

Hosts Sheffield United have had the better of the possession, however.

04

Blades go close

United's Billy Sharp cushions a long ball into the path of David McGoldrick on 10 yards, but he can only scuff his subsequent effort wide.

Good chance spurned by the hosts.

01

Kick-off

We're off and underway here in the Steel City.

Come on you R's!

14:58

Here come the teams

Both Rangers and Sheffield United have emerged from the tunnel ahead of kick-off at Bramall Lane.

14:47

It's almost time

Can boss Steve McClaren mastermind yet another away-day victory for the Super Hoops?

Keep 'em peeled ...

14:26

'Keeper's!

Joe Lumley and co. are readying themselves for kick-off here at Bramall Lane.

Kick-off is just over 30 minutes away.

Opta Stats

Sheffield United are looking to win three straight league games over QPR for the first time since April 2005.

After emerging victorious at Bramall Lane just twice in their first 18 league visits, Queens Park Rangers have won on two of their last six such trips (D1 L3).

Sheffield United have not won three successive Championship matches at home since March 2018, a run which included a 2-1 victory over QPR.

QPR have won 16 points in 13 away games this season - one more than they registered in the whole of 2017/18 (15 in 23).

QPR striker Nahki Wells scored a brace in his only other league appearance against Sheffield United, netting both goals in a 2-0 victory for Bradford back in August 2013.

No player has scored more headed goals in the Championship this season than Sheffield United attacker Billy Sharp (five - alongside Tammy Abraham).
