Ladies season starts with defeat to Palace
QPR LADIES lost 1-0 to Palace Ladies in their opening FA Women's Premier League South fixture on Sunday.
In a keenly-fought contest, Martino Chevannes' side – which included ten debutants either starting or entering the fray from the substitutes’ bench – fell to a narrow defeat against the Eagles.
With the R’s tiring late on, Palace’s Leanne Bell scored the only goal of the game eight minutes from time, to leave Rangers with nothing to show for their sterling efforts.
Boss Chevannes told www.qpr.co.uk: “It was a really close game.
“We didn’t do enough offensively to win the game, but probably did enough overall not to lose it.
“We had to defend a lot, but we coped well with almost everything that was thrown at us, which is why the goal we conceded – from our own throw-in – really disappointed me.”
Despite the defeat, Chevannes is optimistic about the future, commenting: “There were positives to take.
"I was pleased with how we competed and defended and if we can improve our attacking play with one or two coming back into the squad, I’m confident we can improve over the coming weeks.”
