Rangers see red in heavy home defeat
QPR LADIES suffered a first home league defeat of the season to Gillingham Ladies on Sunday.
Two goals in either half did the damage for Martino Chevannes’ side, who ended the game a player light after Mara De Luca’s 58th-minute sending off.
Rangers, looking for a second successive home win in the FA Women’s Premier League, found themselves 2-0 down at half-time after two goals in 11 minutes before the break from Jenny Newman and Danielle Farmer.
The R’s cause wasn’t helped when De Luca saw red for a professional foul just before the hour-mark, leaving Rangers down to 10 for the final 30 minutes.
Gillingham made the most of their numerical advantage – adding a third goal two minutes later through Jade Keogh, before Newman completed the scoring with her second 14 minutes from time.
Next up for Chevannes and co is a trip to Charlton Athletic this weekend.
QPR LFC: Chimbima, De Luca, Gardiner, Hennessy, Maggs, Netschova (Waterman 51), Peacock, Petit, Searle, Trodd, Stratton.
Sent off: De Luca.
