Sky Blues inflict misery on R’s youngsters

IT was a tale of three set-pieces on Saturday as QPR Under-18s went down by a single goal to Coventry City.

All three goals were scored in a busy opening 25 minutes – the first of which came from a free-kick in the fifth minute. Marcin Brzozowski was helpless to keep it out, as City’s player bent the ball over the wall and beyond the reach of the R’s goalkeeper from 25 yards.

Rangers were back on level terms inside two minutes, though. After a lung-bursting run from Josh Bowler, the R’s winger was upended in the box after a mistimed sliding challenge. And the same player took responsibility from the spot, sending the City goalkeeper the wrong way with the penalty.

But it was a penalty at the other end which would decide matters. After Brandon Barzey was penalised for a foul, City this time kept their cool from 12 yards with what would prove the winner.
