Robins rock QPR youth at Harlington
FOUR first-half goals sent QPR Under-18s to a heavy defeat against Bristol City on Saturday.
Rangers fell behind inside six minutes at Harlington. Marcin Brzozowski was wrong-footed as Cameron Allen deflected Opi Edwards’ speculative shot into the bottom corner.
Edwards doubled City’s lead midway through the half, bursting clear of the R’s backline before coolly slotting past the onrushing Brzozowski.
It remained 2-0 until just before the break, when two more goals in as many minutes extended City’s advantage. Harrison Reeves slalomed his way through to add a third goal, before Kel Akopbire neatly converted a cross at the back post.
Rangers were given the chance to respond just before the hour mark, but Ody Alfa’s penalty was saved by the visiting goalkeeper. Alfa wasn’t to be denied, though, firing into the top corner from the resulting corner.
Any hopes of a comeback were soon quashed, however. Reeves scored his second and City’s fifth within seconds of the re-start after another neat finish.
Rangers did at least manage a late consolation through Caden Genovesi, who headed home a corner to cut the deficit to three.
