Table toppers Coventry see off R’s challenge

PAUL Furlong’s much-changed QPR Under-18s suffered defeat to Coventry City on Saturday.

Furlong – fielding a youthful side ahead of Tuesday night’s FA Youth Cup tie at Swindon Town – saw his youngsters fall behind inside seven minutes.

Rangers had restored parity by the break, however. Leandro Ribeiro’s cross found Gilbert Miller, who headed home to level the scores on the half-hour mark.

They were undone after the re-start, though. Coventry regained the lead within 60 seconds, and four further goals in the space of 20 minutes compounded matters.

The young R’s did at least manage a late consolation. Mus Dauti lashed into the top corner from 12 yards eight minutes from time, as attentions now turn to Tuesday’s trip to the County Ground.

QPR: Bowman, Disubi (Drewe 57), Woolar-Innocent, Dauti, Noel-McLoed, Eales, Ribeiro, Klass (Orafu 57), Platt (Remy 61), Miller, Kifwasima.

Sub (not used): White.

Booked: Noel-Mcloed.

Goals: Miller 28, Dauti 82.
