THREE second-half penalties did the damage against QPR Under-18s, who let a one-goal lead slip at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Charley Kendall pounced on a rebound to make the breakthrough within six minutes of the re-start.
The R’s lead lasted just six minutes, though. Joseph Hungbo was upended in the box, and the same player dispatched the resulting spot-kick.
It remained 1-1 until seven minutes from time, when two more penalties turned the game in Palace’s favour. Goalkeeper Murphy Cooper managed to keep out Hungbo’s next attempt from 12 yards, only for the striker to tuck away the rebound.
The hosts sealed victory at the death. With Cooper penalised in his own box, he was shown a straight red card with Aiden Mesias forced to take the gloves. The midfielder was helpless to keep out Palace’s third penalty of the day, though, as 10-man Rangers came away empty-handed.
