Young R's suffer first away defeat

QPR UNDER-18S suffered their first away defeat of the season at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

After last week’s 4-1 win at Bolton Wanderers, Paul Furlong’s youngsters looked to be heading for more success on the road when Leandro Ribeiro opened the scoring on 19 minutes.

However, two goals in the space of nine minutes before half-time turned the game in Forest’s favour. First, Arvin Appiah equalised before Will Swan scored a second in the final minute of the first period.

The hosts sealed victory with three goals late on.

Ethan Stewart, Swan and Alex Mighten all found the net in the final 15 minutes to put the result beyond Rangers.

Next up for Furlong and co is a home game with Burnley at Harlington this Saturday (kick-off 10.30am).

QPR U18s: White, Ribeiro, Woollard-Innocent, Drewe, Mahorn (Carlyle 60), Genovesi, Brooks, Mesias, Platt (Kendall 53), Dauti, Francis.

Subs (not used): Dickinson, Morris.

Goal: Ribeiro 19.
